Friendship Park, Border Field State Park Celebrates 40 Years

Celebrate 40 years of Friends of Friendship Park with dancing, music and socializing.

All events are conducted in a binational circle that unites people through the border fence. Remember to bring your ID for the border area.

Schedule is as follows:

• 10:30 a.m.-noon: Border encuentro event: Salsa Dancing Lesson and music with the Cuban Salsa dancers "Los Guayaberos"

• noon-12:30 p.m.: Opening Ceremony of 40th Anniversary (MC Enrique Morones)
  - Words from Congressman Bob Filner (San Diego)
  - Words from City Council Woman Maria Luisa Sanchez (Tijuana)
  - Words from Yolanda Martinez (Wife of the late Roberto Martinez, lifetime border activist)

• 12:30 p.m.: Testimony from a Tijuana Family and Testimony from a San Diego Family

• 1 p.m.: Fandango - Son Jarocho Music!

• 2 p.m.: Bi-national Friendship Garden. Re-enactment of Patricia Nixon's original tree planting. Henry Sanchez Pardo Eco-Runner will do the honors after running barefoot for three years from Argentina planting over 7 million trees on his way to Alaska!
