Beethoven, Rock, Reggae, Jazz: Music Around Town this Weekend

From Friday night to Sunday afternoon, musicians will play tunes around town all weekend.

The Community Center for the Arts will hold its the second classical concert Sunday featuring the piano and violin of Dr. Paul Kenyon and Dr. Phil Tyler at Nestor United Methodist Church playing Beethoven's masterworks at 3 p.m.

Previous concerts showcased the talents of members of the San Diego Symphony and San Diego Opera.

Dr. Kenyon is the chair of the Point Loma Nazarene University Music department.

Dr. Tyler also teaches at the school and is part of the Point Loma String Project where he teaches music students the strings, who in turn teach students in San Diego schools.

Young artists can sign-up for $300 a year to learn how to play the violin, cello or viola at the Cooper Music Center at the university.

Other music around town this weekend:

- The returns to IB Saturday at 6 p.m. with Teagan Taylor Trio on the ocean at the end of Palm Avenue

- The ska and reggae band Friday at 9 p.m. previously featured in the Imperial Beach Patch .

- Robert Bondurant Trio and Ben Valera will play at the Salty Frog Saturday from 8 p.m. to midnight
