Dark Knight Rises Features Former IB Actor Matthew Modine

Modine will play a role in one of the most anticipated movies of 2012. The movie's trailer set records half a year before it is scheduled to be released.

In 1975 Matthew Modine starred in several productions with the Mar Vista Thespian Troupe while attending high school in Imperial Beach.

He was George Gibbs in Our Town, Speed in The Odd Couple and performed bathroom and movie scenes in pantomine.

Now, as an adult, he will play a character in the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, possibly the most anticipated movie of 2012. Anne Hathaway, Michael Caine, Christian Bale and other stars will also be in the movie.

Even the release of the movie's trailer set records.

When the movie's trailer was officially released Dec. 19 of last year, it shattered all previous records for trailer views on iTunes with 12.5 million views within a 24-hour period, according to the LA Times.

On YouTube, as of today, the movie's two official trailers have tallied more than 15 million views.

The movie is scheduled to hit theatres this summer.

Before the new Batman movie comes out this summer, Modine will star alongside Eva Mendes in Girl in Progress, due out April 27.

Throughout his careeer, Modine has also starred in Full Metal Jacket, Any Given Sunday, the Showtime series Weeds, and dozens of other films and performances since the early 1980s. He has also written books and directed his own films.

'Too Big to Fail,' which came out last year and was about the 2008 financial crisis, received 11 Emmy nominations.
