Weak Weather System to Bring Light Showers and Strong Winds

A weak weather system will move through Southern California Thursday through Friday, bringing light showers and strong winds to San Diego County, meteorologists said today.

"Showers will probably get started in Orange County by late (Thursday) afternoon and spread southeast during the evening," according to the National Weather Service. "The system will depart rather quickly Friday so all precipitation looks to end by midday or so."

Rainfall amounts are expected to range from a tenth of an inch along the coast to six-tenths of an inch in some mountain areas, such as Cuyamaca.

The strong winds will arrive during the day Thursday in the mountains and deserts, with the strongest occurring Thursday evening and overnight along mountain crests and adjacent desert slopes, where a few top gusts could reach 50 miles per hour, an NWS advisory said.
