Video: Upon Return Home, Sailor Surprises Sons at Little League Game

After sailing more than 55,000 nautical miles aboard the USS Carl Vinson, Chief Robert Roy surprised his two sons Christian and Brady Wednesday, meeting them on the pitchers mound at their little league baseball game.

Christian, 7, and Brady, 4, joined their teams to recite the Pledge of Allegiance and the Little League Pledge. They were then told to go give the ball to the pitcher to start the game after where they saw their father.

After a few solid hugs and private words, the Roys spoke to cameras from San Diego 6, NBC San Diego, KUSI and 10News.

Carrier Strike Group 1 and its flagship the USS Carl Vinson returned to San Diego Bay Wednesday after completing a , but Christian and Brady were unaware, their mother said.

"Your house is never full unless everybody's home, and the boys always know that there's somebody missing when he's not home, and its just basically an emotional fulfillment when everybody's here," said wife and mother Jessica Roy.

Aside from playing outside which Robert and his two sons enjoy doing, the Roys look forward to visiting family in Maine this summer.

Christian attends Oneonta Elementary School and Brady attends VIP Village Preschool.
