South Bay Expressway Toll Reductions Begin Saturday

Tolls will be dropped to 50 cents when traveling in Chula Vista and free Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

SANDAG will reduce tolls on the South Bay Expressway at 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning, making the convenient connection between eastern Chula Vista and the rest of the region easier to access and helping to bring congestion relief to South County decades sooner than previously planned.

In celebration, SANDAG will host a free community event on Saturday at the Otay Ranch Town Center, 2015 Birch Road, in Chula Vista from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will feature a wide range of family-friendly festivities, including live music, a classic car show, kids’ arts and crafts activities, a 50-foot truck outfitted with video game consoles, prize drawings, and an ice luge sculpture with Naked Juice samples.
