Kazoos, Glow Sticks and Live Music: Relay for Life 2012 Schedule
The 24-hour fundraiser includes local entertainment, wacky-themed laps and Michael Jackson's "Thriller" at midnight, all to raise money in the fight against cancer.
The Relay for Life returns to Imperial Beach on Saturday for a 24-hour walk-a-thon at , and there are plenty of fun things on schedule.
More than 20 teams will participate Saturday, from All Night For The Fight to Relay for Pattie to Breast Friends.
The public is invited to attend, whether you're on a team or not, to enjoy the music and festivities and participate in activities at team campsites.

Festivities will kick off with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m. Saturday, complete with a "Survivor's Lap" and "Boot Lap," the latter of which will collect money in boots.
The 24-hour event will also include games, clowns, food, drinks and raffle items. At each tent site the teams will all have items available for a small donation. All proceeds made during the Relay for Life fundraising event go to the American Cancer Society.

At 9 p.m. Saturday evening, a Luminaria Ceremony will take place. If you have lost someone to cancer and want to remember them, you can make a donation and make a luminaria bag to show the name of the loved one you want toremember. All the luminaria bags will be placed around the track and a candle will be lit inside each one. The luminaria bags will illuminate Mar Vista's track throughout the night as participants make their way around it.
The Relay started in 1985 with Dr. Gordy Klatt of Tacoma, WA, who walked 24 hours straight to raise money for his local American Cancer Society office. Last year, 3.5 million people participated.
