Get Out: Latino Music Festival, Del Mar Fair, Relay for Life and More

IMPERIAL BEACH

  • Where/when: , 505 Elm Ave., Imperial Beach, 10 a.m. Saturday.
  • Why go: The community's Relay for Life in support of the American Cancer Society. Includes raffles, dancing, performances and salutes to survivors and those lost to cancer.
  • Price: Raise a minimum of $100 as an individual or team to participate.
  • Where/when: , 810 Imperial Beach Blvd., 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday
  • Why go: Friends of the Imperial Beach Library will host a book sale on the lawn in front of the library with hundreds of titles
  • Price: Free.

UFC FROGGY FUN

  • Where/when: The Salty Frog, 992 Palm Avenue, 6 p.m. Saturday and 9 p.m. to midnight Saturday
  • Why go: Junior dos Santos and Shane Carwin. Later that night, music by Lenny Morris
  • Price: Free

 

CORONADO

FOREIGN GOODS

  • Where/when: , 1136 Loma Ave, Coronado, 10 a.m. Thursday.
  • Why go: The jewelry store showcases some of the baubles the owners brought back from overseas in the annual Turkish Nights showcase. With refreshments, through the store's 7 p.m. closing time.
  • Price: Free.
  • Where/when: , 5000 state Route 75, Coronado, 1:30 p.m., Sunday.
  • Why go: The community can join in a one-hour walk, where guides will help them seek out animals and plants on the state beach. Meet outside lifeguard headquarters.
  • Price: Free.

 

A LITTLE FARTHER OUT

15TH ANNUAL LATINO MUSIC FESTIVAL

  • Where/when: Across from the Sherman Heights Community Center, 301 22nd Street, San Diego from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Why go: Along with food, vendors and art, the festival will feature the work of some of San Diego's best known Latino musicians playing Chicano folk, electro cumbia, reggae, rock and Latin funk and jazz.
  • Price:  Free
  • Where/when: Las Americas Outlet mall in front of the Nike store, 4211 Camino de la Plaza, San Diego, race starts at 8 a.m.
  • Why go: Help the Roberto J. Duran Scholarship Fund give scholarships to South Bay high school seniors. The former Border Patrol agent was killed in the line of duty in 2002.
  • Price: $30 for adults, $25 for participants under 17
  • Where/when: Del Mar Fairgrounds, 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, 10 a.m. Friday.
  • Why go: The San Diego County Fair kicks off with an opening ceremony and all the attractions you could hope for, from bungee jumping to monster trucks and displays of prize animals. Rocker Pat Benatar plays the opening concert, followed on Saturday by current chart-toppers Bruno Mars and Janelle Monae.
  • Price: $7-$13, with discounts available.
