Bike to Work Day is Friday

In light of the disruptions caused by the wildfires, the SANDAG iCommute postponed Bike to Work Day to Friday, May 30.

There is still time to join thousands of San Diegans and opt for a two-wheeled commute for National Bike  Month. Bike to Work 2014 supports bicycling as a  viable, environmentally friendly, and cost saving  commute choice. With more than 1,340 miles of  bikeways in the region, commuting by pedal power can be fun and rewarding.

Bike to Work Day - Friday, May 30 - Register for Bike to Work Day, and log your bike trips in TripTracker at 511sd.com/iCommute. When you log your trips, you help provide important information about biking trends and show support for bike facilities. In addition, every time you bike to work and log your trips in May, you will be entered into weekly prize drawings throughout Bike to Work Month.

Riders who register for Bike to Work Day on the iCommute website in advance can pull into a pit stop during their morning commute on Friday, May 30 and pick up a free Bike to Work Day t-shirt and snacks. Pit stops will be open from 6 to 9 a.m. Visit the  Bike to Work webpage for a full list of pit stops.  Imperial Beach's pit stop is Tracey Rivera's State Farm Insurance Agency, located at 1239 Palm Avenue.  Besides the morning shift, this pit stop will have a second afternoon shift from 3 pm to 6 pm.

Throughout May 2013, bike riders logged more than 216,000 commute miles- that equates to nearly 9,400 gallons of gas saved and 6.6 million calories burned.
