Beach Closed; Sewage Contaminates Imperial Beach Waters

A general advisory warning beachgoers to avoid water contact is currently in effect for all San Diego County beaches.

Shoreline in Border Field State Park and beaches south of Seacoast Drive near the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve have also been closed due to sewage contaminated water brought to the coast by the Tijuana River, the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health said in a statement Saturday.

"Signs will remain in place at impacted beaches until sample results indicate the ocean water is safe for recreational use," the statement said.
