From once a poorly run pawn shop, a local IB resident has become the third owner since the space was converted to a sandwich shop a few years ago.
Chris Justin, the first owner who worked with the city to convert the space from a pawn shop, was unable to continue operations after the scheduled opening was delayed by inspectors for over 14 months.
Offering larger sandwiches, free local delivery, catering and early AM hours to catch bar patrons - the new shop owners have lots of ideas to bring in new business.
As their next-door neighbor, I've noticed huge improvement since the take-over in food quality, the atmosphere, and friendliness of the staff.
The new owners have vowed to keep the name, and change any bad reviews - to stellar reviews. While sporting a respectable 4 out-of-5 stars on Yelp!.com, some of the more recent reviews - from the prior ownership - seemed to be declining.
If you've tried Fred's Subs before and decided not to return - now's a great time - take a friend and try them again for only a $1.
