Surf Camp, Concert, & Surf Movie Night at Imperial Beach Pier

Bring out the entire family!

On their Facebook pageUrban Surf 4 Kids invites local families to their June 22nd event - "So Cali Dreaming Surf Camp, Concert, & Surf Movie Night @ Imperial Beach Pier".

From the event page, "Join us for a jammed packed day at the beach benefiting foster youth! Free Concert from Cody Lovaas & Surf Movie "The legend of Eddie Aikau" located at the pier in Imperial Beach! Bring out the entire family! This event is part of a 4 night surf & serve trip for out of state foster youth who have achieved various goals to earn this trip to San Diego!"

I think there is an assumption in the United States that our system provides for and takes care of “foster kids.” What I have found is that children who are raised without parents and spend time bouncing between homes are in desperate need of healthy outlets. And this is where an organization like Urban Surf 4 Kids fits into the picture.” said Founder Wes Stewart.

Founded in 2009 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization to empower orphans and foster youth using water-based activities while providing them with the means to give back to their communities, Urban Surf 4 Kids introduces kids to surfing, swimming, paddle boarding and most activities under the sun - in the ocean - and on the beach.

In offering opportunities for kids to connect with the environment and community for a day of fun and laughter, the organization motivates them on a journey in changing the world through service projects that better the environment, lives of others, and themselves.

Take a few moments to check out the work they do and see how you can Take Action too.

“Most of these kids are used to being the community project instead of working on a community project. At Urban Surf 4 Kids, our goal for every orphan and foster child is to remove the ‘underprivileged’ label and replace it with the ‘empowered’ label. With the right resources and volunteers, we can do it!”, Stewart continued.
