Smog Check Roadblock on Hwy 75

Just after 8 A.M., state workers with the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Automotive Repair began setting up a 'voluntary' smog check today on Hwy 75 northbound - just before Rainbow Dr.

California Highway Patrol officers are enforcing the roadblock and drivers were seen experiencing a slight delay at the end of the morning rush hour.

Inspectors say they are ASE Certified Technicians employed by the State of California Bureau of Automotive Repair and are here to gather vehicle emissions data to evaluate the performance of California's emissions reduction programs.

"Inspections take approximately 10 minutes and a report is provided to the driver, which may be useful to owners in that they can point out problems with emission control system(s), however the report may not be substituted for a vehicle's official Smog Check", said one inspector.

"We will also alert you of any other mechanical deficiencies we observe while conducting the inspection."

A flyer given to drivers who participate in study reads; "Remember regular maintenance and properly operating smog control systems can significantly reduce smog-forming emissions."

Flyers are printed in Spanish and English.

Remember, don't drink and drive, stay insured, and as many military members will say, "Never volunteer, again!"

Blogger's Comment: I conducted a good video and informative interview with the inspector, but the audio is completely silent... it's the first time this ever happened, and I can't repeat the error... #weird

The funny thing is the audio worked just before the employee told me his "guidelines" required that "he also record the interview". So, he turned on his camera and aimed it at me while I aimed mine at him...
#weird just #weird.
