Car Wash Drowns Out of Business

How many car wash and pizza locations did they think IB could realistically support?

Open for business for about 18 months, as of Monday morning the Palm Avenue Car Wash has been shuttered by the bank.

Construction of the business seemed to last longer than the business itself. With a South San Diego (92154) zip code, the business was built on the border of Pond 20, separated by a large and very expensive retaining wall.

Battery Park Pizza, a business located inside the car wash, ceased operating earlier this year, and the last Facebook entry for both businesses was over a year ago.

Three new car washes and at least eight pizza joints were open in and around Imperial Beach when this business was finally operating. How many car wash and pizza locations did they think IB could realistically support?

Yelp! reports a rating of only 2.5 out of 5, and the online excitement for the business seemed to decline 6 months ago...

12/30/13 Was nice when it opened. Now it sucks. Slow workers, they do a cheap job... Never impressed when I give them a shot. Plus bare refrigerators, no more pizza... Probably going out of business.

Etheria Celestin Well.... I was just there Friday 3/7/14 and they were busy and didn't have enough workers, my wet car sat in the sun over 15 minutes before they got to it and had water spots all over it! Not good at all. They didn't clean or wipe down the entire car, there were still rather dirty parts. Guess I need to find another cars wash.

Rochelle Lamb Not enough help. Cars drying in the sun. And they forgot to do the tires.

Ashley D. 4/17/2014 I am the only person here, yet it's taking my car over 45 min to get finished. Im wondering why there are 3 workers just standing around while one guy works on my car. The people whom I've interacted with are very friendly, but I would not be back if I need to be somewhere afterward, like I did today.

Did you visit this car wash or eat the pizza? How was it?

Perfect building for you Marcus --- 1000 ft away, 100 ft away, commercial zone, etc ...

The bank shuttered it? Hmmm. Why would a bank bankroll such a business in the first place? Oh right, I forgot...the banks are "too big to fail", and get a taxpayer subsidized bailout. Something a wee car wash / pizza joint would not qualify for. Too bad, I hate to see another shuttered business or scraped off lot in my town. Better luck to the next occupants of the property.

this carwash and the one a couple blocks east were built at the same time ... it was bad planning to approve both carwashed, but if it was disclosed to both that they would have new competition right down the road and they choose to build anyway - that's life in a capitalistic martket... survival of the fittest...
