It's prime season for races and walks. Here are tips to get you ready.

With the Peace-Love Run this weekend and the Mud Run next weekend, it’s definitely prime season for runners.  Are you ready? There are things you can do to make sure you have fun and stay fit in the process. If you don’t feel good, you’re not going to be able to enjoy participating in this year’s races.

Whether you’re going to run in this year’s races for the first time or you’re pretty seasoned, training will prevent injury during the actual race. If you’re a novice, your body isn’t used to physical strain you’ll experience. Start training in small distances, then slowly progress to longer. Make sure to stretch before and after each running session.

Joint Supplement for Runners

Our joints deteriorate over time. We naturally lose cartilage between our joints. Add being an athlete and physically active and you’ll find that you experience arthritis pain sooner. It’s recommended that you start taking joint supplements for runners. Glucosamine, specifically liquid glucosamine chondroitin, is the joint supplement for runners you’re looking for. The glucosamine rebuilds cartilage between joints while chondroitin lubricates joints.

 

Hydration

This is pretty obvious, but sometimes we need reminding. Our muscles and bones need water to function. The last thing you want is to cramp up with pain in the middle of a run. Drink plenty of liquid when you train and make sure you hydrate before the race. If the race has hydration stations, take advantage of them!

Hit your local shoe store or New Balance and talk to someone about the right running shoe for you. We’re all different. The way we walk is different. They way we run is different. Getting a custom shoe will ensure that you feel great while running at the same time preventing an unwanted injuries.
