I was surprised to see that Robert Miller (Miller Enterprises) was part of the group planning theRead Morede velopment. Miller has been very active politically for years and has probably converted more former hotel rooms to condos than anyone in town. He was also active in the Seacoasters Group that wanted to change the street lighting as well as a long term member of SWIA. I believe another hotel could be good...if it was an affordable one. I'd rather see a Red Roof or Motel 6 at this point since there does not seem to be any AFFORDABLE VISITOR SERVING ACCOMODATIONS as required by Coastal Commission Laws. Some people think a hostel or campground will even that out...Frankly.....it doesn't. Where is the affordable visitor serving accomodations. This is all high end stuff that may not even be economically viable. If either hotel's business model fails from pollution or other reason...If the city is financially invested they would have to agree to change the zoning to condos or time shares to protect their investment. Build a hotel please...Use city money...FORGET IT ! If the developers are not solvent enough to do the project on their own....then there should not be a project. Maybe city council should get out of the redevelopment business since RDA's were outlawed. Want to spend bond money? Pay the bond debt back with it. All citizens will be on the hook to pay that back and there was never a referendum to increase the tax burdon with these former RDA bonds. Want to see which politicians Mr. Miller has donated money to? Thank you Mr. Quesenbury for having the guts to speak out and educate the community.

Yes, it's outrageous that the tax payers have to subsidize these projects owned by theseRead Moremillionaire developers. IB citizens please take note and vote for someone else in the next election. The developers call the shots in this town.

I got an e-mail from City Manger Andy Hall regarding my post and it appears that I may have drawnRead Moreso me conclusions that may not have been 100% true. Since I cannot remove or revise my previous comments I will post the corrections in the Local News along with an official press release. It was nice to see so many citizens come out and speak to local issues. This is the kind of democracy in action that many of us have been yearning for. If you don't engage and be heard....you won't be heard. It's very encouraging to see folks communicate to civic leaders...and be listened to!

I am hoping to transfer in my job back to San Diego, preferably IB that I love, to be near myRead Moredisabl ed Veteran daughter. I do not make much, but I have a Bachelor Degree, have owned 5 homes, never broke the law, and I am very clean:) I see the ROOMS run about $500, a room! To be near my daughter tho I would give up everything, which is the case if I am to move back home & live in a room. Maybe these housing proposals would include a community association that would enforce the housing codes for appearance & cleanliness. Issue warnings with eviction as a final solution. I certainly do not want to live in a substandard community! Please, though, folks not all of us have money! If someone has a well paying position I am listening:) Then I would be glad to rent an apartment.

I watched the video of the meeting and from what I was able to understand (the audio is sort ofRead Morecrap py at times) --- anyway, it seems this is a nearly 10 year old California law finally being pushed on the town --- and no one here had a choice ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Perhaps someone could clarify this for an old man ...

That's right Jon, and the section on parcel combination was 86ed because the citizens voted to banRead Moret hem in 1992
