'...Spending our Tax Dollars on fireworks is not a wise decision.Read More...' ---------------------------- ------------------------------------------------- yes it is - it generates revenue and projects a positive environment .... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ the city of ib is generating $2 million less in revenue than it did a few years ago because it closed down all the attractions that generate revenue .... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- the city receives funds to repair their roads, but the money is pillaged .... if you want your roads repaired then elect council members that will direct city employees to use taxpayer dollars for their intended use instead of selling out for a hotel room and/or a few bucks in their pockets...

Maybe the new hotel should subsidize the event? Maybe some of that BID money could be spent toRead Morehelp offset the cost. Fireworks are symbolic of freedoms that were fought for. If we don't have all those freedoms anymore....maybe fireworks are not needed? I think Imperial Beach has been repressed by not having public parades or censorship of signage. Lately we have heard a lot of stories from buisness people who cannot put what they consider to be appropriate signage in front of their business's. Maybe it's time to take another look at some of these ordinances and restore freedom of speech and freedom of expression. Why would anyone want to do business in IB if they can't put an appropriate sign in front of their business without harassment? Isn't this nothing more than censorship...or is it just the high cost of doing business in a business unfriendly city? A car dealer in Chula Vista commented on the fines he got for signs, flags and parking cars by the curb. He just expects to spend an extra $3000 a month on fines as the cost of doing business in Chula Vista. Is that what it's all about? Just the money; or is there a real reason why signage rules are so repressive? With all the proposed mixed use development on the SR-75 corridor, 13th Street and Palm...how can the city expect to attract new business with such an unfriendly attitude and rules? An then there are the exceptions to the rules...The business's that flagrantly violate these rules without being challenged by code enforcement. We all know who these business's are that have their entire window area covered. If it's the law...It's the law. If it's not the same for everyone...change the ordinance.

This is a wonderful event for children who deserve to be treated with respect. I had to be in anRead Moreor phanage for a short period of time after I lost my family when I was a year old, then I was adopted into a fine home. My mother took in foster children who to this day I consider my sister and brother, Rose and Luke. They had a fine home there with me and foster parents who owned a business and real estate. We all had a good Christian upbringing with good family values. We were taught to do unto others as you would have them do unto you. To treat people with respect and kindness was our upbringing. I think this is a wonderful event and I want to thank the community here for the warm and friendly reception you gave to me and my son when we moved here just a couple of years ago. I will never forget you and the way you made us feel welcomed in this community. Be kind to these children and steer them in the right direction with kindness and love, otherwise they will feel they want to get revenge upon the world. They need your kindness and this event here is in the right direction.

the sheriff's dept is corrupt and the city itself has attempted to target cyclists .... but mostRead Moreof the sheriffs on duty in ib are kids that are simply follwing orders ...... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- people have to remember that cops are their employees and need direction....have a paper and pencil or a tap recorder with you ....when a cop stops you the 1st thing you need to do is take control of the situation by asking him to state his name and badge number and the reason you have been stopped because they have to have probably cause.... ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- if you were stopped for something like a tail light out then direct the cop to write you a 'fix-it' ticket - and to make sure he spells his name clearly and legibly .... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- if the cops are stopping people without cause then file a complaint with the d.a. and grand jury - they can pull the logs and see a pattern of targeting cyclists...

@ June Price...btw I have been thinking about you since you dared to speak worse to me than youRead Moreeven would one of your precious dog's, disrespecting and disregarding a fellow human being and I DO NOT appreciate your abusive rudeness and insult AT ALL!!!I don't need to be empathized with or apologized to and I don't expect a "grinch about to fall of the ledge" moment, but I want you to know how uncalled for and selfish your little tyrade was and to remind you that you supposedly train dog's? thank you very much Tom... I really appreciate your comment and your support :) because that'sRead Moreexact ly what I'm talking about. I didn't expect to come here new to IB and participate in comments on the IB patch that were kind loving helpful and humane, like myself if you knew me only to be verbally abused and bullied by trash. And the very fact that I almost HAVE to defend myself and confront the consciously bankrupt in public is ludicrous and ridiculous and a waste of my time FIRST and foremost as I was victimized. Get that straight please. Once I force a perpetrator into a time out corner with a mirror just once, my job is done. I won't be working overtime in forcing her to lift her head and and look at the truth.

Dante, nothing in the SDCBOE website shows any effect on taxes or fees from SUHSD relating to thisRead Morec hange of representation.
