Public Access does not have to be ugly
Kimberly Paris January 25, 2014 at 02:11 pm
A representative from the Port of San Diego is attending this evening's IB Beautiful's Annual MeetRead More & Greet to share what the Port of San Diego has done and is planning for the future. It is our impression (IB Beautiful) that the representative is open to discussion and dialogue as well as suggestions for the area known as Pond 20. Please come and attend IB Beautiful's Annual Meet & Greet 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. tonight, Saturday, January 25th at Barrels and Seacoast Bar & Grill. IB Beautiful, Inc. was established in 1998 and is focused on improving the public land space, as well as supporting other gardening and land improvement projects throughout Imperial Beach. IB Beautiful is looking for good people to join our board to work on projects such as this one. Together we are stronger! Come on out and have a drink on us.

Hi Kimberly, so bummed out that I missed that meet & greet gathering. I'm a new resident of IB,Read More and had weighed in by email on the "fence design" while I was still moving out of coastal Sonoma County. Really liking the discussion here. I'd love to see future access to the water from 13th St. that Jon proposed, especially if I could launch my SUP board right near my home without hurting any wildlife. Right now, I drive up to the Cays to enjoy the water. Living large on Dolphin Bay, (north bay side of IB) and hey, why does nobody here call it that? (Google Maps does). Were dolphins local in this part of the bay before the railroad and bike trail arrived? Please keep me in the loop, I thought I was already on the IB Beautiful FB page, but maybe not. I'd love to attend those meetings. How do I get connected to the goings on here?

'... I also despise two-faced groups who are in it for personal gain --- Wildcoast supported theRead More Sand Replenishment that destroyed the natural beach ...' wildcoast didn't 'approve' the improper sand replenishment ... the sand replenishment was done improperly and at the wrong time of the year......there was no financial gain for wildcoast or serge.... the person that benefited financially was the ib mayor/vp of sandag, but you don't want to blame him because you support the corruption.... ======================================= '...'when I refer to organizations such as Wildcoast as eco-terrorists it is not name-calling --- it is simply stating the truth ...' no, it isn't 'the truth'....the truth is that you've been brainwashed to respond to code words like pavlov's dog so you no longer have the ability to process information and make rational choices..... ======================================= political parties use the same procedures as a cult - they brainwashed their followers with lies so they can't think for yourself....

Hello Libi: I appreciate your comment, but I’m afraid you missed the point. The metaphor wasRead More related to the “Surfer’s Bench”, not surfers. Yes, the PCH Dinner Show is absolutely a for-profit private enterprise, because this is exactly what the IB Area needs for the immediate and future prosperity of our community. Trust me, I know about surfers and the surfing business. The PCH Dinner Show concept is advanced thinking where we package our surfing and SoCal beach heritage into a world-class tourist venue. If we don’t do this not only will we lose an opportunity for a desperately needed booming private enterprise, but our heritage could be lost, e.g., there are not going to be any more Tim Townsleys, David Craigs, or Jay Novaks. Please read www.PCHDinnerShow.com.

To all who responded to the letter I posted "POND 20 Simple Clarity/ Simple Direction".Read More After reading the comments I can see that almost everybody wants something good to come of Pond 20. The current fences that restrict our access while other parts of the bay enjoy the freedom to walk up to the waterline frustrate many of us. Others who have fought hard to protect our the bay want to make sure the water is clean and the wildlife is protected. Why can't we have BOTH access while protecting the environment. During the first public outreach meeting held in early 2013 by the Port local people spoke out with their concerns for public safety, public use and a variety of other issues. Dr. McCoy spoke out in support of a Kayak entrance point at the foot of 13th street. Since then no public dialog has taken place. If the Port of San Diego is unwilling to or cannot provide the venue for a public workshop then why don't we do it ourselves. I would be willing to host the event, provide large scale aerial photographs and moderate. In our county there are many, many great examples of public use areas that are within or very near sensitive lands. Certainly, using these examples we can create a place that reflects our values. It may be easy to sit and write things via email however I ask that we do the hard thing. Think of the great opportunity we have to create something. Lets create a crown jewel for the South Bay Communities. I DARE YOU.

I checked with a trusted brewing friend about brewing with un- dried hops(fresh) and he seems to beRead More OK with it. He did say to use 4 to 5 times the amount of hops when fresh. '...the Imperial Beach Beer Guild...' ib has a beer guild....?? i didn't know there was a hopsRead More plant and i certainly didn't know it's growing in ib.......this is a great venue to create a festival around... keeping it high end like a wine tasting festival would keep the drunks away and attract the good demographic to ib...
