Homicide Suspect Attempts to Cross Border

Felix Olazo-Barrios, a suspect in a murder committed in Oaxaca, Mexico was turned over to Mexican authorities Monday after attempting to illegally enter the United States near Otay Mesa.

U.S. Border Patrol agents arrested a male Mexican national last Thursday who had an outstanding homicide warrant issued by the Mexican government.

At approximately 7:45 p.m. on April 18, agents observed a group of three individuals including Felix Olazo-Barrios cross the U.S.-Mexico border near the Otay Mesa Port of Entry. 

Agents responded and tracked the group’s footprints into an area of heavy brush.

The three men were taken into custody and transported to a nearby station for processing. Routine record checks revealed Olazo had an active felony warrant for homicide in Oaxaca, Mexico. 

On Monday, April 22, Olazo was turned over to Mexican authorities with the Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) to face charges. The other two male subjects were processed for voluntary returns to Mexico.
